Magic moments on every one. Ireland and Scotland Vacations Value tours without compromise. If they sign up for one, I suspect they will be the only english speaking american in a large group of Japanese. I, too, first question why they think they need an escorted tour. Hawaii is pretty easy No the Caribbea, Europe, etc. On a tour, they may find themselves in a large group of non-English speakers.
And tours are SO restrictive. But perhaps there are other reasons why this is a sound approach??? Thanks for the info so far. Here is more info My parents are in their mid's. I did talk to them about NOT doing a tour, but that is truly what they want. They are social people so they want to be with others. Plus, they want to experience several different islands without having to plan it all themselves.
I also discussed a cruise with them thinking that would work. But they would like to stay on land. Tauck Tours is an excellent tour company that does have guided tours to Hawaii.
You can find more details at tauck. I don't have any advise about specific tours for you, but I think you will want to be very careful to check the demographic of the group. Like I said before, it's like Florida, who do you think would be on an escorted tour of Fl? Only folks who have language barriers or some other real need. This tour looks good, it's funny, the tour looks like mostly just arranging interisland flights, hotels and breakfasts - BUT if thats what they want to avoid, it could be a great fit:.
The Trafalgar tour link from Kailuamom looks pretty good. They might want to rent a car for some of those 'free days' on Maui and Kauai. A lot of the time on that tour is 'in transit'. I think they might be happy with the NCL cruise that departs Honolulu every Saturday, plus a stay on one island.
We still don't know how long they want to visit. Disney is starting to cruise to Hawaii from LA -- not until I think. DH and I are Seniors. We would consider using a tour guide if we were traveling where we'd have a communications barrier or in an 'Emerging World' nation. Thanks for the link kailuamom. Ok ,since both the government and Denny's say Hubbie and I are seniors I'll chime in too! Talk to your folks about all that time they are wasting Just something to think about.
The other thing I noticed is that the "featured" activities are not ones The DE's on these boards would recommend as "must-do" As for being "social" we have never had a problem finding people to talk to on ANY of the islands I'm thinking that your folks may be better with a package arranged by a travel agent that includes escorted tours, but makes arrangements for the things your parents would like, and covers the airport transfers and interisland flights.
While the cruise isn't supposed to be the best of cruises, I think it is a better social opportunity to see the islands without all of the wasted time.
If they look into the 7 day that leaves from HNL - there are virtually no "days at sea" like other cruises just one afternoon. Mostly just nights at sea. I just feel that this tour idea is a recipe for your folks having a marginal time and thinking Most tours have arranged stops at places where they get kickbacks. For instance one of the stops is a coral jewlery gallery. Never once have I read that as a recommendation for something to do. While I understand it's what they say they want - if they haven't done it, how do they know it's a good idea?
I don't disagree that to have someone handle all of the planning sounds awesome, I just worry that in actuality, it's not gonna work. Man that tour is expensive and does not include airfare, car rental which they will need on Maui and Kauai , tours not included and meals not included.
It would add up to be quite a bit extra. All of your saved places can be found here in My Trips.
